PARTICIPANTS of Ipoh Starwalk 2016 will be getting an extra health boost in the form of vitamin C from Watsons.
Watsons Personal Health Care Stores Sdn Bhd, which owns Watsons Pharmacy, is sponsoring 100 boxes of its house-brand vitamin C and 5,000 bottles of mineral water.
Participants will also get RM5 vouchers in their goodie bags which can be used to purchase any product from Watsons pharmacies.
Its marketing manager, Erin Wong, said vitamin C was a common supplement which helps boost a person’s immune system and keeps colds and the flu at bay.
“Our soluble German-made 1,000mg vitamin C has been our most popular supplement since Watsons started moving into the health category,” he said.
He added that Watsons was expanding its selection of house brands from beauty products to include health products as well and as such was keen to support events that promote health such as the Ipoh Starwalk.
Wong said Watsons health products were on average about 20% cheaper than those of other brands, something the company was able to do because of its stronger purchasing power.
“Watsons is an international company, working out of 13 countries in Asia Pacific.
“Because of that, we can get products at a cheaper price and pass the savings on to our customers,” he said.
Other popular Watsons health products include detox tea, berry essence made of 10 berries and slimming supplement African Mango Plus.
Ipoh Starwalk 2016 is organised by Star Media Group in collabo-ration with Ipoh City Council, Perak Education Department and Perak Athletic Association.
The platinum sponsor for the walk is telecommunications company YES while the silver sponsors are F&N, Federal Oats and Julie’s. The Perak Turf Club is the official venue sponsor.
