CAL FIRE SLO sends strike team to Southern California – KEYT
NIPOMO, Calif. – A strike team from CAL FIRE San Luis Obispo went to Southern California to assist with a fire that broke out Wednesday.
Firefighters gathered at the station in Nipomo Wednesday before heading to a staging area in Corona.
The crew was on standby for a possible assignment to the Tenaja Fire burning near Murrieta.
That fire burned 250 acres and had no containment as of Wednesday evening.
The Tenaja fire also threatened structures near the community of La Cresta.
CAL FIRE says it will still have seven wildland engines in San Luis Obispo County while firefighters are deployed out of the area.
The stations throughout the area will also be fully staffed still.
