Jordan Anchondo killed shielding her 2-month-old in El Paso, Texas shooting – USA TODAY
El Paso’s Del Sol Medical Center said that nine of its patients from the shooting are in critical condition.
A 25-year-old mother shielding her 2-month-old baby was among the victims of Saturday’s deadly mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, according to reports.
Leta Jamrowski, Anchondo’s 19-year-old sister, told the Associated Press that Anchondo, a mother of three, was shopping for back-to-school supplies. Jamrowski spoke to the Associated Press while waiting at the University Medical Center of El Paso.
Dayton, El Paso, Gilroy and beyond: You’re right to be afraid. Mass shootings are more numerous and deadly
“From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him,” she said. “So when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones. So he pretty much lived because she gave her life.”
She also said she was hoping for information regarding her brother-in-law, Andre Anchondo, who was still missing.
Anchondo’s story was originally described by Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Tx. Speaking with ABC’s “This Week,” Escobar described the child as one of the victims who is recovering from the shooting.
Escobar did not identify the woman as Anchondo.
