The Saddleridge Fire, which swept into northern Los Angeles overnight, has prompted 100,000 people to evacuate the area. Officials have evacuated 23,000 homes.

Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore said they were already in a “leaning forward posture” due to the Reed Flag Warning, which allowed officials to act quickly during this emergency.

He advises that everyone must be prepared for the weekend.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) has 500 firefighters from 87 companies and an additional 500 firefighters from the region battling the fire. Winds have reached up to 50 mph.
