Saddleridge Fire Map: Tracking the Spread – The New York Times
A fast-moving brush fire in northwest Los Angeles on Friday forced the evacuation of more than 100,000 people.
One man had died from the fire, known as the Saddleridge fire, officials said on Friday afternoon. The fire had burned over 7,500 acres in the San Fernando Valley and was 13 percent contained. At least 25 structures had been destroyed, officials said, though an assessment team was working to get a more accurate count.
At least two other fires were burning in nearby Riverside County. By Friday morning, the larger of the two, the Sandalwood fire, had burned over 820 acres, destroyed over 74 structures and caused one death, according to county officials.
