Two days after Trump’s tweets, liberal freshmen go back to accusing Pelosi of racism – Washington Examiner

President Trump’s tweets this weekend attacking the liberal freshmen congresswomen were not enough to unite the Democratic Party for even 24 hours.

Indeed, hostilities between the establishment and liberal wings of the party have not only continued unabated, but the liberals have even gone back to the well of suggesting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is racist or, at the very least, that she has some extremely retrograde notions about the everyday experiences of “women of color.”

During an interview Tuesday between CBS This Morning host Gayle King and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Tlaib issued a warning to Pelosi, admonishing the speaker to think twice before criticizing the caucus’ overeager, underprepared, and inexperienced members for attacking their Democratic colleagues on social media.

The moment began when King asked the congresswomen if they have reached out to Pelosi to settle what is clearly a growing rift in the Democratic Party. After a strange exchange in which Tlaib spoke about Ocasio-Cortez as if she was a child, the Michigan congresswoman stated:

There is it again.

Like Ocasio-Cortez last week, Tlaib implicitly accuses Pelosi of racism and sexism. And like Ocasio-Cortez’s “clarification” last week, the Michigan congresswoman words her accusation in such a way that she can, at least when confronted by sympathetic reporters, plausibly deny what she is obviously implying about Pelosi’s attitudes toward non-white women in Congress. Tlaib’s renewal of this particular line of attack against Pelosi comes just days after anonymous “top Democrats” selectively leaked internal polling data showing Ocasio-Cortez and Omar are liabilities to the party.

Based on that, I would say Democrats have this 2020 thing wrapped up nicely.
