Vitamin D supplements may not reduce risk of falls – WPSD Local 6

(NBC NEWS) — Doctors are no longer recommending Vitamin D supplements for seniors at risk of falls.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force did not find enough proof to show Vitamin D helps prevent falls.

Instead, exercise is most effective. Patients may also want to consult their doctor for personalized guidance.

Separately, the task force concluded there is not enough evidence to recommend Vitamin D or Calcium supplements to lower the risk of fractures in older women.
